“’Tis a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” So begins the most beloved of Jane Austin’s novels and one of the most famous love stories in the world. At a time when men hold all the cards, the only economic choice for Elizabeth Bennett and her four sisters is a suitable marriage. But when Elizabeth meets the wealthy and arrogant Fitzwilliam Darcy, first impressions are not favourable. Sparks will fly….
This story is brought to you in a traditional and witty adaptation by Brian J Burton.
Director Rachel Buttell’s previous show with the Taunton Thespians in 2014 (The Taming of the Shrew) won a Rose Bowl award for best Shakespeare production.
