Three short works, a folk song arrangement ‘Sir Roger de Coverley, some Piazzola, and the two Elegiac Melodies are included in this programme. Alma Orr-Ewing will play the ‘Lachrymae’ for viola and strings by Britten, which will partner one of the Dowland ‘Lachrymae for Strings’, written some 400 years earlier. An arrangement of a very early quartet by the teenage Mozart, and forward a few centuries to the (not so!) ‘Simple Symphony by Britten complete our early Autumn programme, at 7.30pm in St James Church Taunton.
