Blackdowns Early Music Projects: Maestros del Monasterios

JanJoost van Elburg will direct choral music retrieved from the archives of the Monasterio de la Encarnacion and Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales in Madrid. This music has rarely been performed in recent times, yet it represents a large body of work by musicians working throughout the 17th century and even later. They were influenced by the legacy of the great Tomas Luis de Victoria, who had lived in Descalzas Reales for many years before his death in 1611. Singers will be accompanied by Frances Kelly (harp), Peter McCarthy (violone) and Martin Perkins (chamber organ). Tickets £15 (students £8, u12 free)
