Blackdowns Early Music Projects – GRAND BAROQUE II

The programme will feature spectacular baroque works by  Heinrich Biber (1644-1704), Missa Alleluia a 36  and the Vespers a 32.  Biber was Kappelmeister of Salzburg Cathedral and explored the musical use of that astonishing building to the full, writing complex choral polyphony for the Archbishop.

These works will be performed in true baroque style by BEMP’s singers with soloists Amy Haworth, Sally Dunkley, Hannah Cooke, Paul Phoenix, Mark Dobell, Julian Stocker, Jonathan Arnold and Thomas Flint (all from the country’s top ensembles – Tallis Scholars, the Sixteen, Gabrieli Consort, Orlando Consort, Stile Antico…) supported by the Monteverdi String Band, His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts and the drums and trumpets of the Altenburg Ensemble. In addition each group will make an individual contribution to the programme.
