Blackdowns Early Music Projects: Cantantibus organis…
April 10, 2016 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The first BEMP event in 2016 is on Sunday April 10th at 6pm in St. John the Baptist (Parish) Church in Wellington, led by principal director, JanJoost van Elburg. The programme is called Cantantibus organis, featuring music written around the turn of the 17th century in Rome by Palestrina and his pupils in the Cappella Giulia of St Peter’s Basilica, and in Venice by Giovanni Gabrieli and others in the equally famous Basilica of St Mark. Almost all the music is written for multiple choirs of voices and instruments.
BEMP is delighted to be welcoming the internationally renowned virtuoso English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble to join the singers for the concert, together with continuo organ played by Martin Perkins.
