‘A Celebration of Somerset Day’.  Gibby Swaine, Sue Watts and The Stoggy Men along with Tom Mayberry (CE of Heritage SW). The history and heritage of Somerset will be celebrated in a specially extended hour long concert. Gibby Swaine and Sue Watts have been making music together for many years and have invited The Stoggy Men, from Stogumber, to join in a programme that will explore the wealth of traditional Somerset music. Richard Huish College –  Advanced Musicians’ Summer Recital Talented soloists on a variety of instruments will perform a programme of pieces ranging from classical to jazz. Accompanied by Course Manager for Music, Kathryn Foyle, there will be something to suit all tastes during the summer lunchtime. Doors open at 12 noon and cold drinks will be served before the start of the concert. Retiring collection: Open Door and St John’s Church

In the company of Bach, Franck & Peeters Stephen Bell – Organ Recital Making a long overdue return to St John’s, Stephen has chosen a programme of some of his favourite works by Bach, Franck and Peeters. He is well known to many of us in this area, having conducted orchestras based in Taunton or directed local choirs. ‘The Muses Gardin for Delights’ Mary Morgan (soprano) and Steve Graham (lute) ‘The Muses Gardin for Delights’ was the title of Robert Jones’ 5th book of ayres for voice and lute, published in 1610.  There were several such publications in this “Golden Age of English Music”, the pre-eminent composer being the lutenist John Dowland. 50th Golden Concert – ‘Poetic Piano’ Oana Dinea – Piano Recital Our “Golden Concert” will be a real treat when Romanian born, Oana captivates us, during an hour of enchanting music by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin, who was one of the most sensitive composers of the romantic period.  It will be the first time a performer has travelled from abroad for one of our concerts. A Showcase for Young Musicians Wellington School Students High-flying, award-holding pupils will perform an eclectic programme that will feature a variety of instruments, genres, ages and stages thus demonstrating their versatile abilities. Doors open at 12 Noon and cold drinks will be served before the start of the concert. Retiring Collection in aid of the Archie Project, part of the Reminiscence Learning Dementia Charity and St John’s Church.

Taunton Choral Society – Advent Concert
