The Music Festival is to encourage and promote the performance and enjoyment of music. Aiming particularly, but not exclusively at young people, it provides a challenge and unique opportunity to perform in a competitive and non-competitive situation in front of an adjudicator.
Trumpet Concertos by Handel and Torelli, soloist Sasha Canter, BBC finalist, and music by Albinoni, Nielsen, Webern, Dvorak, Sousa and Einaudi. Director Mary Eade, violin.
A solo guitar recital with musical delights by Bach, Giuliani and Tarrega with Classical Guitarist James Rippingale. www.jamesrippingale.co.uk Drinks will be available before the concert. Ronald Tickner was Organist and Choirmaster of St Mary Magdalene for 36 years (1963-99) and the trust founded in his memory in 2000 aims to support young musicians with lessons and experiences which will help them to make the most of their talents now and in the future.
