SUMMARY:St Johns Taunton - Lunchtime Concert: TAUNTON YOUNG SINGERS
DESCRIPTION:Taunton Festival of the Arts organised three competitions for young singers during this year. Those events produced a very high standard and displayed a wide range of repertoire. The prize winners will perform at St. John’s to share some of their competition songs with the audience. They include the first place winners Ava Fitzhugh\, from Crediton\, (Taunton Young Singer)\, Spike Maxwell\, from Milverton\, (Taunton Young Music Theatre Singer) and Esme Knight\, from Taunton\, (Taunton Junior Young Singer). There were also four days of vocal music making in February demonstrating that Taunton Festival is\nhriving. Do come and hear for yourself the standard these young people have achieved. The performance will start at 12.45pm and last for approximately 45 minutes. Please feel welcome to bring your sandwiches to enjoy with the cold drinks that will be available. \nRetiring Collection in aid of Taunton Festival of the Arts and St John’s Church.

DESCRIPTION:Adam Parris of Derbyshire is a versatile\, talented young musician will make his debut in\nTaunton\, by using the Father Willis organ as well as playing some\npiano solos. He could just as easily use his guitar in a programme\nof pop music. He is a professional pianist\, organist\, director of music and\ncomposer\, who regularly tours the UK and abroad. \nWhilst he is classically trained\, his musical tastes and influences have led him to\nwork with a broad range of notable musicians and composers. These\ninclude John Rutter\, Bob Chilcot\, the renowned acoustic guitarist\nGordon Giltrap\, Nicki French (a past Eurovision Song contestant) and\neven Basil Brush! To read more look up www.adamparrishmusician.org \nHis programme will range from a Beethoven Sonata and the Elgar ‘Nimrod\nVariation’ to ‘Jane Seymour’\, part of the Album\, from The Six Wives of\nHenry VIII by Rick Wakeman. Bach along with his own unique compositions and ending with a musical journey through the heart of Spain\, the programme will include the timeless guitar classics Asturias by Albeniz and Tarrega’s enchanting Recuerdos de la Alhambra as we journey through the rich ‘sound worlds’ of this majestic instrument. \nFree Admission; Retiring Collection in aid of The Challice Well Glastonbury and St John’s Church. \nLaying at the foot of Glastonbury Tor\, the Chalice Well is one of Britain’s most ancient of Holy Wells.  It has been a great source of inspiration and peace for many years\, to many people including James. Since 1959 the well has been maintained by a charitable trust that strives to keep the Well as an enchanting place to visit.
