DESCRIPTION:Somerset Chamber Choir under Conductor Richard Laing\nVAUGHAN WILLIAMS The Lark Ascending (violin & piano)\nMacCUNN The Wreck of the Hesperus\nSTANFORD The Princess\nSTEPHEN PAULUS The Day is Done\nERIC WHITACRE I will wade out\nELGAR Spanish Serenade\nRICHARD DANIELPOUR As Night Falls on Barjeantane (violin & piano) \nShulah Oliver violin \nRichard Laing violin/conductor \nTurn-of-the-20th & 21st-century masterpieces from the British Isles and America\, inspired by classic poetry. \nAlong with Elgar’s delightful Spanish Serenade\, this concert offers a rare opportunity to hear Hamish MacCunn’s dramatic portrayal of Longfellow’s Wreck of the Hesperus\, and Stanford’s unjustly neglected but beautiful setting of Tennyson’s The Princess. There is also an unusual chance to hear Vaughan Williams’ iconic masterpiece The Lark Ascending\, inspired by George Meredith’s poem of the same name\, in the original setting for violin and piano. Three instant classics from the 21st Century\, including settings of Longfellow and e e cummings\, will complete what we hope will be an afternoon to inspire us all.

A Portuguese time share villa has been double booked without the knowledge of the company representative\, myopic tippler Commander “Chitto” Chittenden. When Mary and Henry arrive in search of a romantic get-away\, closely followed by love-birds Eve and Leslie\, Chitto manages to remain unaware that there is more than one couple on the scene. The arrival of Celia\, Perky and Kit adds to the confusion and fun in this high energy\, fast-moving romp. \nDirector Dave Goodall has a sure hand with comedy: his last production with the Taunton Thespians was the popular classic Arsenic and Old Lace. Dave’s cast for Holiday Snap includes Thespians favourites Anne Dowsey\, Rob Smith\, Clare Fidler\, mast ward and Lizzie Knighton and welcomes talented new members Gill Campbell and Will O’Neill.
