DESCRIPTION:Alan Ayckbourn’s version of the first of the famous Aldwych farces was produced by the National Theatre. It’s the story of an unsuccessful inventor who inherits the life interest in a fortune which is to revert on his death to his cousin George Maitland. As Cousin George is thought to have died abroad\, the inventor has the brilliant idea of “dying” so that he can resurrect himself as his cousin and avoid paying his enormous debts. Complications arise in the form of George’s wife\, another Maitland imposter (the butler’s brother) and finally the real George Maitland himself! \nAdd a scheming butler\, lugubrious gardener\, smarmy solicitor\, fainting female and ironic aunt\, and you have a cocktail of comedy that would defeat Prohibition. This wickedly funny and physical play is full of Roaring Twenties spirit\, pace and dash\, with wisecracking dialogue\, mistaken identities\, polish and pizazz. \nThink Wooster\, think flappers\, think spats – think it’s been done? DESCRIPTION:Amor vince ogni cosa   –   Love conquers all \nSigismondo d’India:  Il Pastor fido\nMarc-Antoine Charpentier:  Amor vince ogni cosa\nClaudio Monteverdi: Volgendo il ciel – Movete al mio bel suon \nTickets £12.00\, students £6.00 \nBEMP specialises in performance of unusual early music\, and this programme of consort music is no exception\, in which three different composers’  music describes the Arcadian idyll\, shepherds\, shepherdesses\, gods\, hunting and love.  Under Musical Director JanJoost van Elburg a group of 15 singers will play their part in bringing the music to life with a band of instrumentalists playing instruments of the composers’ period\, violins\, gamba and theorbo in the hands of internationally recognised experts – Violins: Julia Black and Ben Sansom\, Gamba: Henrik Persson  Theorbo: Taro Takeuchi \nJanJoost van Elburg is Principal Director of Blackdowns Early Music Projects  and has worked with many groups of talented singers  to prepare performances every year since 2004.  In England he is also director of the Bartholomew Consort\, performing  throughout this country\, in Holland and France.  At home in Amsterdam he directs his own Lelikoor and is Director of Music at the prestigious Westerkerk.  He leads many workshops and courses in vocal technique\, performance and conducting throughout Europe.\nSince 2004 Blackdowns Early Music Projects have developed a loyal following of early music fans in the area.  Audiences return regularly to hear examples of the vast repertoire of glorious vocal music\, performed by experienced singers from all over the UK\, Holland\, Spain and Austria.

DESCRIPTION:Following great feedback from Pete Long’s Advanced Workshop in February 2014\, John Packer Ltd will be welcoming Pete back to host another Advanced workshop on February 7th\, 2015. \nPete previously played and arranged for Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for five years and now acts as bandleader for Ronnie Scott’s Big Band. He has played with and supported a massive range of musicians including Sir Paul McCartney\, Dizzy Gillespie\, Chick Corea\, Stereophonics\, Clare Teal\, Jamie Cullum and many others.
