SUMMARY:St John's Lunchtime Concerts\, Taunton Young Singers
DESCRIPTION:Taunton Festival of the Arts organised three competitions for young singers in March of this year. A few of the prize winners from these events have been invited to share some of their winning\, competition songs with the audience. In addition\, there were two days of vocal music making in the February festival classes. Taunton Festival is delighted to be back in action this year. \nDo come and hear the high standard of musical performance achieved by these young people. you are welcome to bring your sandwiches to enjoy with the cold drinks that will be available. The doors will open at 12.00pm and the concert will start at 12.45pm. \nRetiring collection in aid of Taunton Festival of the Arts and St. Johnʼs Church.

Join countertenor Joe Levy accompanied on the piano by conductor Konstantinos Terzakis\, for an evening of music from across the Renaissance and Baroque periods. This includes works by Purcell\, Dowland and Morley\, as well as many that rarely get performed but are treasures nonetheless.You will hear not only about the songs themselves and their composers\, but also the world in which they were created. Music is a reflection of people’s hopes and fears and so through this concert you will learn more about life in 16th and 17th Century England.
