DESCRIPTION:Blackdowns Early Music Projects’ principal director JanJoost van Elburg will \nThe programme will feature spectacular baroque works by  Heinrich Biber (1644-1704)\, Missa Alleluia a 36  and the Vespers a 32.  Biber was Kappelmeister of Salzburg Cathedral and explored the musical use of that astonishing building to the full\, writing complex choral polyphony for the Archbishop. \nThese works will be performed in true baroque style by BEMP’s singers with soloists Amy Haworth\, Sally Dunkley\, Hannah Cooke\, Paul Phoenix\, Mark Dobell\, Julian Stocker\, Jonathan Arnold and Thomas Flint (all from the country’s top ensembles – Tallis Scholars\, the Sixteen\, Gabrieli Consort\, Orlando Consort\, Stile Antico…) supported by the Monteverdi String Band\, His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts and the drums and trumpets of the Altenburg Ensemble. DESCRIPTION:Festival of Flowers In Celebration of Marriage \nPreview and Concert Evening: Thursday 9 July @ 7.30 pm \nThe Mary Magdalene Choir will perform\, as will Director of Music Miles Quick on the organ\, and other local musicians. Various readings between the music. There will be an extended interval for the audience to enjoy a preview of the Festival of Flowers. \nTickets include the Festival Programme. Available from St Mary’s Bookshop or on the door. \nRefreshments available \nThe Flower Festival show is free on Friday and Saturday (10th & 11th July) from 9am to 5pm\, and again on Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Do come and see the wonderful displays created by gifted flower arrangers and by Coates English Willow and other willow weavers. All monies raised will go to the Church Organ Renovation and Bells of St Mary’s Project funds. \n

The more the merrier! \nWe hope to present the concert in the wonderful surroundings of Hestercombe Gardens\, weather permitting (inside if wet)\, so bring your rug and picnic lunch. \nIt is very exciting to think that we will hear a world premiere of one student’s composition\, inspired by a recent visit to the Chris Ingram Collection at Hestercombe Gallery\, as well as familiar favourites including the orchestra playing Holst’s Jupiter from The Planets. \nUsual entrance charges apply for Hestercombe Gardens and Gallery\, if visiting the Gardens &/or Gallery before or after the concert\, but admission to the concert is free of charge. \nWe will have a Raffle with proceeds to Hestercombe CYM.
