SUMMARY:Choral Evensong
DESCRIPTION:CHOIR OF HOLY TRINITY ANGLICAN CHURCH\, UTRECHT\nThere has been an Anglican community in Utrecht since the sixteen hundreds\, with a purpose built church consecrated in 1913. The Chaplaincy is a part of the Church of England in the Diocese in Europe and has had a choral tradition that continues to this day\, with choristers being trained under the Royal College of Church Music system.\nThere are three churches in the Chaplaincy\, Utrecht\, Zwolle and Groningen\, with two having choirs that sing in the Anglican tradition. We sing at all services and festivals such as Nine Lessons and Carols and in other churches in Utrecht and The Netherlands as ambassadors outside the church.\nFor some summer months\, they travel to England and this year\, a group of 16 singers will come to St John’s to sing Choral Evensong on Friday 25th July at 5.30pm. This is a part of a tour that includes Wells Cathedral and Sherborne Abbey.\nThe Evensong will be a traditional Choral Anglican service\, based on the Book of Common Prayer. It will include an Introit\, the Canticles\, Psalm\, Preces and Responses\, Hymns and an Anthem.\nThe choir is led by the Director of Music and composer\, Freek Elbers and the organist will be Charlie Gurnham\, Assistant Music Director\, Sherborne Abbey.\n            Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…\n            singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs\, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.\n                                                                                                                                                      Colossians 3:16
