Russian Gala Concert; Sergei Kosov – Balalaika, Iryna Ilaytska – Mezzo Soprano, Yulia Nortbridge – Violin, Ekaterina Shetliffe – Piano.

The performers of this concert are all graduates of leading Russian music colleges who have won prizes and awards for their performances and commitment to music.  They have been entertaining audiences in The Midlands and Devon for several years but it will be the first time they have performed together in Taunton. Sergei Kosov, the balalaika player will be travelling from Russia especially for the group’s February tour.  During his performing career he has worked with many traditional folk orchestras…

Come and Sing Day – Haydn’s Creation

Join us to sing choruses from Haydn’s Creation with Conductor Iain Cooper.  The choruses will be rehearsed during the day before a final sing through.  If you have considered joining our choir this may be just the opportunity to dip your toe into the water!  Registration is 9.30am for 10.00am and the day will finish at 16.00hrs.  We look forward to seeing you.  Price £12 to include hot drinks and biscuits, and sheet music.

Blackdowns Early Music Projects: Music of Robert Carver & Ludovico Viadana, Director Andrew Parrott

Tickets will be available soon for this interesting juxtaposition of Early Renaissance ideas contained in the rhythmically complex  Robert Carver Mass Dum Sacrum Mysterium written in about 1510, set against the  Vespers of 1612  by Ludovico Viadana, directed by the distinguished conductor and musicologist, Andrew Parrott

Collegium Singers Concert – The Voice of my Beloved

Music on the theme of love, exploring texts from within and without the ‘Song of Songs’. Music from the C16th and C17th including madrigals by Monteverdi. A focus on the C20th and C21st follows, exploring settings by Grieg, Sibelius and Sandstrom.

The Phoenix Singers – Charity Fundraiser
